Hello!
I recently bought a book containing numerous Latvian Dainas. But they are translated into German as poems, so I am not sure what they literally mean.
I'm particularly interested in one about the sun; I figured out that the original must be one of those:
Saule, saule i šodien,
Nava tāda, kà vakar;
Māte, māte, sveša māte,
Nava sava māmuliņa.
Saule, saule ir šodien,
Nava tāda, kà vakar;
Māte, māte, sveša māte,
Nava tāda, kà māmiņa.
The translation translate.google.com is very bad. I only know a little Lithuanian and no Latvian at all so I wasn't able to translate it myself.
Can anyone here give me a rough, literal translation?
